The woman was struck by the car as she was getting into her own vehicle on William Hudson crescent, about 6pm.
She was taken to The Canberra Hospital in a critical condition, and on Monday afternoon authorities said she was in a critical but stable condition.
A spokesperson for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints said the woman was from Hawaii and had been serving her mormon mission in Canberra when the crash occurred.
The spokesperson said the woman was in a coma, and her parents had arrived from overseas to be by her side.
She said the woman had been taking pictures when she was hit.
A spokesperson for ACT Policing said the driver had been identified and investigations were ongoing.
