ACT Labor have announced a $45 million cash shower for Weston Creek, promising to building a new 50m swimming pool and an enclosed oval at Stromlo Park.

The party will also invest in 80 new parking spaces for Cooleman Court shopping centre, and double the number of Xpresso buses between Weston Creek and the City, if re-elected in the ACT's October poll.
The majority of the new spending announced today will be used to build a 50m pool by 2018 worth $33 million, with construction slated to begin in 2016.
The pool’s exact site is yet to be announced, but the feasibility of a site close to the Weston Group will be examined, in addition to investigations already undertaken at Stromlo Forest Park.
Meantime, $11 million will be spent on a “new home for sport” at Stromlo Forest Park.
The party says the new enclosed oval will be similar to Greenway Oval and Gungahlin Enclosed Oval, and able to be used for AFL, Rugby League, football and Rugby Union.
Design for the oval will begin next financial year, with construction to start in 2014-15.
The remaining $1 million will be used to finance the new parking spaces for Cooleman Court and the extra Xpresso bus services.
The new spending announced today for the Weston Creek town centre is in addition to commitments already made by ACT Labor, for upgrades to local roads and shopping centres, and a new park and ride for the area.
The party says the spending is to help support Weston Creek’s population, which is expected to grow by 15,000 as the new suburbs of Coombs, Wright, Denman Prospect and Molonglo open up.
