Over several weeks the team of four professional abseilers from Rope Access Engineering are working their way around the six light towers applying three coats of Dulux St Enoch Grey.
The mid-grey colour with a metallic finish closely resembles the natural steel finish of the light towers, whose appearance on the skyline has allowed for night cricket and AFL.
Mr Bull said the multi-skilled crew was enjoying the project for its variety and the knockout views.
‘‘It’s a bit different obviously. The views are great, it was a cracker of a day today and the work is not too awkward,’’ he said.
The company’s workers are often seen doing repairs and window cleaning on multi-storey buildings in the CBD.
But other more exciting jobs have included welding repairs on a space tracking dish at Tidbinbilla, bridge maintenance on the Snowy Hydro scheme, construction work on the enlarged Cotter Dam and maintenance of the Carillon.
