The ACT government has earmarked almost $8 million in next month's territory budget to clean up the city's suburbs.

The government will spend $7.75 million on more frequent mowing and weeding, as well tree maintenance and the cleaning of bus stops, lakes and ponds.
Chief Minister Andrew Barr said the extra municipal services would spruce up suburban Canberra.
The money will deliver an additional mow during peek growing season, on top of each suburb's existing five mows a year.
Funding will also allow for a continuing cleaning program of almost 440 hectares of urban lakes and ponds in the ACT, including Lake Tuggeranong and Lake Ginninderra.
Meanwhile, the government will hire two more staff to enable urban waterways to be cleaned four times a year rather than twice a year.
Minister for Territory and Municipal Services Shane Rattenbury said another $8.084 million over four years will fund the maintenance of roads, paths, streetlights, road verges, parks and playgrounds in new suburbs.
The funding will also cover waste collection from new properties.
Mr Rattenbury said the additional funding will ensure TAMS is equipped with the resources required to support the growing number of Canberra suburbs.
"TAMS takes pride in looking after our city and this funding will help to ensure our public places and recreational areas are well maintained and enhance Canberra's status as the world's most liveable city," he said.
