A night court has been raised as a way to relieve pressure as Canberra prosecutors battle under increased workloads.

It was understood the proposed night courts would run between 6pm and 10pm to deal with bulk low-level matters such as minor traffic offences.
ACT Director of Public Prosecutions Jon White is understood to have raised the suggestion with the ACT government, but with no result.
Mr White has used his annual report to highlight resourcing pressures.
His office has not received an increase in its budgetary allocation for several years.
"Indeed, over the past few years with 'efficiency dividends' and the like, resources available to the office have actually contracted," Mr White wrote.
He expected resources to be further stretched with the impending introduction of a fifth judge and the listing of hearings in the Magistrates Court at the same time as Supreme Court blitz periods.
"[It] means we will require additional prosecutors to keep the Magistrates Court operating as well."
Figures presented in the report show the number of trials run by the DPP each year had risen by about 86.90 per cent since 2001-02.
Court of Appeal matters had climbed 140.29 per cent and Supreme Court appeals 106.47 per cent.
Last year, Mr White floated a plan to let paralegals handle traffic matters in the ACT Magistrates Court.
That concept was opposed by the ACT Bar Association, which argued paralegals were not qualified to conduct prosecutions.
Mr White again raised the prospect of a separate traffic court, staffed largely by paralegals, and intensive listing of matters to be heard in the Magistrates Court.
"I have, for some years, been calling for greater efficiency in the Magistrates Court. Again, I regret I must report that little progress has been made," Mr White said.
"I am determined to increase the efficiency of the handling of Magistrates Court matters within my office, for instance by increasing the use of paralegals.
"I have made many suggestions to assist the Magistrates Court in increasing its efficiency. A separate traffic list, which I could staff largely with paralegals, night courts, and intensive listing of Magistrates Court matters for hearing are all suggestions of mine which are yet to be taken up."
