ACT election: Jeremy Hanson in striking distance, but how much is his own doing?

There is something about Jeremy Hanson that reminds you of the preternaturally cheery Jim Carrey in The Truman Show, with a grin that lasts longer than you expect and a kind of insults-can't-touch-me confidence. It's not that Hanson is especially immune to criticism, nor that the smile is a veneer, more that he appears to let attacks wash over him, laugh and move on. Or perhaps he's just in an especially good space as the leader of a party on a roll.
