Research at the Australian Catholic University that focuses on child protection will continue until 2021, after a partnership with the ACT government was renewed.

The Institute for Child Protection Studies was created in 2005 as a collaboration between the university and the community services directorate.
On Wednesday, minister for children and young people Chris Bourke will announce $500,000 in secured funding for the institute until 2021.
Founding director Morag McArthur said much of the institute's work involved turning research projects into easily accessible, practical tools.
"To really ensure the research has effective dissemination," she said.
"Often research gets put into a drawer or in a journal, [but] we've made a really conscious effort to get those research findings translated so they're useful for politicians and policy makers."
Professor McArthur's institute and the government have collaborated on more than 15 research projects in Canberra, including on child protection workforces, children's experiences of homelessness and transition from juvenile detention.
Staff at the institute are also using a three-year Australian Research Council grant to develop and trial an improved model of contact for children in out-of-home care and their families.
The project aims to improve children's relationships with their birth parents.
Mr Bourke said the institute was now "a nationally-recognised centre of research excellence".
"The institute is a leader in carrying out high-quality research and professional development that ultimately improves strategies to prevent the abuse of children and reduce its impact on children," he said.
"Renewing this agreement to provide continued funding for the institute is good news for our community as we continue to develop new ways to prevent the abuse of children and young people."
