Those were some of the queries raised by Canberrans during an hour-long Twitter talkback session with territory police on Tuesday.
Participants were invited to put their questions about traffic and road safety to ACT Policing traffic operations representatives using the hashtag #Talk2ACTPol, as part of National Road Safety Week.
ACT Policing's top traffic officer, Sergeant Rod Anderson, said the session presented a new way for police to engage with members of the public.
“Improving road safety is as much about education and awareness as it is about enforcement; the Twitter talkback provided a more casual atmosphere to discuss common traffic issues and correct misconceptions,” Sergeant Anderson said.
Police sent about 41 comments in response to questions from the public.
Many questions revolved around particular road rules, random breath tests, reporting road crimes, cyclists and mobile phone use when driving.
Other Twitter users raised concerns about specific traffic conditions, some of which were referred to ACT Territory and Municipal Services.
The hashtag #Talk2ACTPol will be used for more themed Twitter talkbacks in coming months.
