The four volunteers – Paul Cortese, Jacinta Cortese, Chris Viner-Smith and James Montgomery – will be in the area four days.
Police and Emergency Services Minister Simon Corbell said the volunteers would play an important role as search observers off Western Australia.
‘‘This will be the furthest ACTSES volunteers have been deployed,’’ he said. ‘‘It demonstrates how valuable ACTSES volunteers are to the community.’’
Mr Corbell said the Australian Maritime Safety Authority had made a formal request to the ACTSES for help with the search. He thanked the volunteers’ employers for releasing them from work to take part.
The search has continued for more than a month since MH370 disappeared on the way to Beijing.
