ACT News

Data sources: ACT Policing and the Australian Bureau of Statistics. See the original police data here.

Maps produced by: Scott Hannaford - with assistance from Nick Evershed and canberratimes.com.au.

* Disclaimer: Maps have been produced using crime data from ACT Policing and population and suburb geography data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics. Police data is grouped in patrol zones, which range in size from one to six suburbs. Police statistics do not include rural areas of the ACT and some suburbs in newer developments.

Maps show the actual number of crimes committed within each patrol zone. Maps are not based on the rate of crime per 1000 residents (this information is available in the pop-up info box for each zone), because some patrol zones have much lower populations than others, such as the town centres which have high levels of crime but low population. Some figures have been rounded to improve presentation.
