About 1000 people will be working on polling booths in Canberra on Saturday to ensure the election goes smoothly.

They are hired by the Australian Electoral Commission to check names and usher people to the privacy of polling booths.
A mobile voting booth visited the ACT prison on Tuesday and the pre-polling stations have been busy.
Ian Gordon, who is in charge of the commission's operations in the ACT, estimates the cost of staging the election in the territory at $950,000. For that money, voters will have a choice of 86 polling places. In the ACT 265,269 people are enrolled to vote.
On the ballot paper, they will face more choice than at the last election, a trend reflected around the nation.
The ACT Senate ballot paper lists 27 candidates, up from nine in 2010, and the two lower house seats have a total of 13 candidates, up from seven in 2010.
In the ACT, the two lower house seats are safe Labor, putting the focus of attention on the Senate race. Labor's Kate Lundy is sure of being returned but Liberal candidate Zed Seselja is facing a challenge from the Greens' Simon Sheikh for the second spot traditionally held by the Coalition.
At each polling booth, the first count is of primary votes for the lower house seats, which are then phoned into the divisional office. Staff will do the two candidate preferred count showing the distribution of preferences for the House of Representative seats, followed by the counting of Senate votes.
Mr Gordon, the Australian Electoral Officer for the ACT, says the results for the Senate race will be available later in the evening.
''From 10pm onwards we expect a substantial number of ACT ballots to have been counted,'' he said.
However about 20 per cent of the votes will not be counted on the night because they are postal or pre-poll votes.
''A lot of people have chosen to vote other than on polling day,'' he said.
Commission staff at Tuggeranong and Lyneham Primary School will check voters' names using laptops while other polling places will use the traditional printed lists.
Electronic voting, used on a limited basis in the ACT Legislative Assembly, will not be available on Saturday.
