More than $5.67 million in criminal assets were seized by the Australian Federal Police last financial year, including four homes linked to ACT crimes and a $70,000 car.

The latest figures from the Criminal Assets Confiscation Taskforce, led by the AFP, show nationally $240 million in criminal assets were seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act in 2014-15. The program saw $130 million seized in 2013-14.
A spokeswoman for federal Justice Minister Michael Keenan said four homes linked to criminal activity in Canberra and with a combined value of $3.22 million had been seized interstate.
More than $2.378 million saved in five individual bank accounts and linked to criminal activity was also seized. Only one motor vehicle was seized in the ACT, with a registered value of about $70,000.
The taskforce includes representatives of the AFP, the Australian Crime Commission and the Australian Taxation Office and is established to "target criminal economies" and criminal syndicates.
Mr Keenan said more than $100 million from confiscated assets had been provided for law enforcement strategies, including the government's Safe Streets Program.
The Australian Crime Commission received about $3.1 million to increase capability for detection of incidences of unexplained wealth and the AFP received an additional $11 million for criminal confiscation work.
"These are unprecedented efforts by the AFP-led Criminal Assets Confiscation Taskforce to undermine criminal business models and take the profit out of their crimes," Mr Keenan said.
"Combating serious organised crime is a national priority, and the Coalition government has approached the states in the genuine spirit of co-operation and negotiation to ensure strong arrangements are in place to strip criminals of unexplained wealth."
He used last week's Law, Crime and Community Safety Council meeting to ask the ACT government to sign up to a national scheme to more effectively manage assets seized from criminal groups by the end of 2015.
NSW has already joined the proposed national scheme, which will target crimes including drug importation and trafficking.
ACT Attorney-General Simon Corbell said the government was working cooperatively towards the December 31 deadline.
"The ACT supports in principle the agreement and continues to work with the Commonwealth and the jurisdictions involved," he said.
"The ACT government has committed to consider the adoption of unexplained wealth laws and efforts on the national cooperative scheme will inform that work.
Last financial year, Canberra police seized about $40,000 in criminal assets and drugs through a series of nine undercover and controlled operations. ACT Policing's annual report on covert operations showed an action authorised in February 2015 saw officers seize 126 grams of heroin and $39,750 in criminal assets.
In 2013-14 ACT Policing seized drugs, $246,000 cash and two motor vehicles as part of authorised operations.
