For those wondering, the giant egg-shaped entity hovering over the capital this morning was not a misguided marketing ploy by an over-eager chocolate company.
The mysterious egg was in fact a hot air balloon - heralding the opening season of OVO, Cirque du Soleil’s new touring production.
The custom-designed hot air balloon was launched over Canberra this morning, ahead of OVO’s Sydney premiere on September 13.
Featuring 54 performers from 16 countries, the production explores the life cycle of insects in a colourful and dynamic acrobatic show.
Cirque du Soleil are touring OVO in Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth from September 2012 to April 2013.
