A British television star, author and lecturer became an Australian citizen on Monday morning after visiting the country for more than 30 years.

Hilary Kay, better known as an expert accreditor on the cult TV series British Antiques Roadshow, smiled beside Prime Minister Tony Abbott while accepting her citizenship certificate.
Ms Key was quick to explain to an audience of dignitaries why she may have looked familiar, with her trademark wit.
"Well, I'm one of the experts on the British Antiques Roadshow, [but] I'm sincerely hoping that nobody's brought anything for me to value," she said.
Ms Kay has also appeared in The Vicar of DibleyThe Apprentice
"It was one of the most memorable and extraordinary days of my life and I feel very honoured," she said.
"I've been here back and forth looking at collections and valuing things, but to finally to feel part of this heritage is very meaningful to me.
"This is a country and a people that encourage success and don't envy it, and I think that is a very powerful thing."
Ms Kay is now running an online art-history course and hopes to expand the initiative in 2015.
