Archbishop Prowse said recent events in the ACT had highlighted the importance of family and home for Canberrans.

"I'm conscious of the fact that people in Canberra feel family is so important as sort of a still port in a turbulent sea and we can think of different situations where people are struggling to find a home in Canberra," he said.

Archbishop Prowse said the death of Tara Costigan and two other Canberra people due to domestic violence had a "tsunami effect" on the community.

"In the walk for her family we saw deep, deep wells of compassion and deeps wells of empathy in the Canberra community towards these tragic episodes of domestic violence," he said.

"I think that's a very positive thing for this Easter - in the midst of this terrible darkness we've seen the brilliant light of people's humanity coming out."

Archbishop Prowse said he would also remember those affected by the ongoing Mr Fluffy saga, which had forcedhundreds of Canberrans to abandon their homes.

"We are thinking of them ... there must be a great exhaustion," he said. "People uprooted from their homes who have been there for years and years. It's not easy to be done."

Archbishop Prowse said the family unit and the Christian faith were what united the community.

"People who often say they're not at all Christian are fascinated with the Easter event," he said.

"When there is crisis and hard moments, people move to their reflective side and see great hope in the Christian message.

"Our doors are open to those who come to church often or come to church never.

"Welcome, come and let us pray together."
