The new border residential area has been slated for more than 15 years but a stoush between developers Village Building Company and the Canberra Airport, and complex planning regulations delayed the project.
Sunday marks the first opportunity for residents to purchase a piece of land in the new community, which will eventually be home to about 10,000 people.
Registration opens at 7am and the first of 79 blocks of land will go on sale from 10am, in order of registration.
Among the early starters will be Nirmal and Kamaljit Dhillon, and their two-year-old son Harven, who have already picked out just the block they want to build on.
The family has rented a home in Queanbeyan for the past year after moving from Albury for Mr Dhillon's work as a mechanic. Mrs Dhillon said they were interested in the land because it was a good area to live in and was close to the city and shops. They weren't particularly concerned about aircraft noise: ''There are planes going over our house where we're renting so I don't think it's going to be a problem,'' Mrs Dhillon said.
Village Building Company national sales manager Stephen Morrissey said there had been strong interest in the land. He said as well as the 79 blocks there would be about four lots that were not sold in the builders land release two weeks ago. About 90 blocks have been snapped up by builders from the ACT and NSW.
Village Building managing director Bob Winnel said he expected about half of the blocks to be sold on Sunday and the rest in the next couple of weeks.
''I think it's rather fortuitous that we're developing land in NSW when there's actually a shortage … in the ACT,'' Mr Winnel said. Lots available at Tralee average 630 square metres and the average price is $276,000.
