It may have been grand final Saturday, but that didn't stop keen home buyers tearing themselves away from the television to attend auctions around the ACT.

Several people attended 9 Booth Crescent in Cook to see auctioneer Chris Wilson tempt the market.
The three bedroom home at the address, which was marketed by Cream Residential in Hughes, was passed in at the auction for $740,000.
Over in Red Hill, a home at the top end of Mugga Way, referred to by some real estate agents as the "Golden Mile", sold for $3.4 million under the hammer.
Auctioneer Mario Sanfrancesco, of Peter Blackshaw Manuka, said he could not remember the last time a house in the area sold under the hammer for such a large price.
"We have over 100 groups of people inspect the property and we had three people bid at auction," he said.
"It was a reasonably competitive auction – the opening bid was $2.8 million."
Mr Sanfrancesco said the home had never been lived in.
"The owner had constructed it over a number of years with the intention of living in it themselves and the quality was paramount to them," he said.
"Circumstances have changed for the owner and they decided to sell so it is a brand new home."
A four-bedroom home in Mana Place, Giralang, was sold at auction for $670,000 by McGrath Estate Agents and a house auctioned by Luton in Hawkesbury Crescent, Farrer sold for $1,295,000.
