Barry Humphries, the man behind Dame Edna, Sir Les Paterson, Sandy Stone et al, returns to Canberra in May.
He will perform his new show Barry Humphries: The Man Behind the Mask at the Royal Theatre Canberra on Wednesday, May 16 when he will be the grand old age of 83.
Humphries began his remarkable career on stage in 1952.
Dame Edna, the housewife from Moonee Ponds turned gladioli-waving megastar, always held a certain distain for Humphries. She liked to sniff that he was "a parasite".
For this show, it is all Barry as Humphries takes audiences "on a revelatory trip through his colourful life and theatrical career"
The show will be "seasoned with highly personal, sometimes startling, and occasionally outrageous stories – Australia's best loved entertainer will be peeling off his mask to introduce the man behind the clown".
