Two representatives from the market will join Jamie Oliver in Sydney next weekend, when the naked chef will announce the competition winner.
The pop-up kitchen aims to be a community affair that teaches inexperienced cooks how to prepare a nutritious meal from scratch.
Belconnen Markets director Maria Efkarpidis said everyone involved with the campaign was ecstatic when they heard the news.
"I don't think I even have words to describe how we felt at that moment," she said.
"There's been a lot of hard work put into this campaign and it was just great to hear we've progressed to the next stage."
"We're so excited because the pop-up kitchen is in line with what we've been trying to achieve over the past few years."
Ministry of Food chief executive Alicia Peardon said the competition for the kitchen had proved a success.
"We received 170 applications from all over Australia, over 1100 letters of support, 15,000 signatures on petitions, 30,000 likes on Facebook and a groundswell of media support," she said.
Ms Efkarpidis said the markets' application stressed a desire to serve not just the Belconnen community but all of Canberra and surrounding areas like Queanbeyan, Batemans Bay and Goulburn.
"One of the biggest problems Belconnen faces is the general perception that purchasing fresh produce is expensive," she said.
"We want to teach everyone how to cook, use fresh produce, and hopefully begin to make changes to some of the health problems we face in this city."
The market's success may have been assisted by a change.org petition urging all of Canberra support their effort to bring the program to the capital.
The petition eventually received 528 signatures.
Ms Efkarpidis believed the market had a good chance of winning the competition and hosting the pop-up kitchen for 12 months.
