Miroslav Jovanavic, 54, did not apply for bail when he faced the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday.
Jovanavic has been charged with intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm, intentionally wounding, and offensive weapon dangerous to a person in relation to the alleged incident.
Police said the victim, a 38-year-old man from Kaleen, was stabbed in the back several times on platform two of the public transport hub about 5pm.
He was rushed to the Canberra Hospital where he received surgery for serious injuries.
A hospital spokesperson confirmed the victim's condition as stable on Monday morning.
Police said the attack was seen by several people, with witness descriptions leading to Jovanavic's arrest only hours later.
A police spokesman said they did not yet know if the two men knew each other.
ACT Policing appealed for more witnesses to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at crimestoppers.com.au.
Magistrate Bernadette Boss remanded Jovanavic in custody to reappear on Friday.
