More than one-third of all women diagnosed with breast cancer in the ACT are diagnosed through the government's screening program.
Last year, 15,513 women were screened for breast cancer in the ACT; the new clinic will increase access to the program by more than 10 per cent.
The new "state-of-the-art" breast screening clinic also offers a more convenient location for women in Canberra's north, the government said.
The new screening unit is Canberra's third, and the government encouraged women between the ages of 50 and 74 years to make an appointment every two years for their free mammogram.
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in Australia, with one in eight women diagnosed in their lifetime.
