Police believe a body found in the Murrumbidgee River on Saturday is that of a Canberra man reported missing in September.

An ACT Policing spokeswoman said the body had not been formally identified but the family of a missing person had been contacted.
"It cannot be said at this stage how long the body had been there, however there have been no suspicious circumstances identified at this stage of the investigation," she said.
Bushwalkers called police to the Murrumbidgee River in the Stromlo area about 4.30pm Saturday. Officers found a body partially immersed in the river.
The coroner was called.
