Area residents found the body about 11.30am on June 7 and called police.
Police confirmed the body, since retrieved, was an adult female.
An autopsy and formal identification should be completed on Friday, June 9.
Police are working to confirm is the 50-year-old Laggan woman missing since April.
Jillian Fahey, 50, was last seen in the Crookwell district on Easter Sunday, April 16.
