Police say detectives witnessed the man make an illicit drug transaction with a 38-year-old woman about 6.40pm.
Detectives arrested both and found illicit substances, thought to be heroin and methamphetamine.
Police then searched the Bonython man’s two vehicles and properties in Gordon and Bonython with the assistance of the K9 dog unit and found more illicit drugs.
The man was taken to the ACT Watch House and was charged with trafficking a controlled drug.
He will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on Tuesday and police will oppose bail.
The 38-year-old woman, who admitted to purchasing illicit drugs, will appear in court at a later date.
