More than 200 cannabis plants with a street value of about $279,000 have been seized from several booby-trapped plantations in remote bushland on the south coast.

Two plantations surrounded by rabbit traps were discovered by police from the Nowra Drug Unit in the Jerrawangala National Park on Monday January 21, off Yarran Road at Tomerong.
Officers say 173 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of $173,000 were seized from the plantations, which were set up with established watering systems.
The following day police found five more plantations surrounded by trip wires and animal traps a short distance away, on Deans Gap Road at Yerriyong in remote bushland.
Officers were winched in by helicopter and 53 plants with a street value of $106,000 were seized.
A NSW Police spokesman said at this point it is too early to speculate on whether the two drug crops are linked.
However police hope to identify more plantations in the area, with the help of the RFS and the Polair helicopter.
