The Australian television queen looked decidedly demure on the Logies red carpet in her colourful beaded column gown on Sunday night, compared to some of the younger starlets who sashayed into The Palladium at Crown awash in sequins, lace and metallic fish tails.
The ladies who stole the show included the ABC 7.30 host Leigh Sales in a Zac Posen-esque scarlet, origami number, Today host Lisa Wilkinson and the Aurelio Costarella clad House Husbands star Julia Morris, both in age appropriate teal gowns showing off the right amount of glowing skin and jeweled embellishment by Victoria Buckley.
Kate Ritchie and Zoe Foster-Blake, in corseted Steven Khalil, brought some old school glamour with their black and white gowns respectively. Carrie Bickmore and Samara Weaving also showcased old school as they would have looked great in 1995 with their watermelon and real red lace panel numbers and curly up ‘dos.
Television new comer and glamourzon Stephanie Rice should stick to swimwear as she drowned in a heavy gown which boasted a structured shoulder, exaggerated peplum and flared hem.
The new guards, including Gold Logie winner Asher Keddie, in a classic Dion Lee monochrome frock and Jennifer Hawkins, in a bedazzled Jayson Brunsdon frock, hit a sweet sartorial high note as they struck the right chords of being fashion forward and black tie appropriate.
Brynne Edelsten once again managed to turn heads with a stark white, shredded gown and new hairstyle inspired by eccentric fashion designer Betsy Johnson.
