Ian John Will, 55, and David Allen Will, 59, have pleaded not guilty to aiding and abetting the Mawson Club robbery in 2004, which saw $151,000 taken from three security guards.

Two armed robbers confronted the guards as they took satchels of cash back to their van.

One of the offenders, Mark Anthony Munro, 54, shot security guard Kevin Matangi with a sawn-off shotgun at close range, spraying pellets across his face, arm, abdomen and chest.

Mr Matangi survived, but many of shotgun pellets were still lodged in his body a decade later.

Munro and his accomplice Sam John Melkie, 56, who was armed with a revolver, made off with the cash, but were eventually arrested following a lengthy and detailed investigation.

Munro fought the accusations at trial, but was convicted, while Melkie pleaded guilty.

Both are serving lengthy prison sentences, although Melkie – described as a "foot soldier" who had a drug debt to his employer – is eligible for release later this year.

DNA found on cigarette butts at a nearby bus shelter, where the pair had waited for the van, helped police track down Munro and Melkie.

Now, more than a decade after the crime, Ian and David Will are being prosecuted for helping plan the heist.

Court documents allege David Will, Melkie's brother-in-law, accessed information provided by an insider he knew about the movements of the security van and the best timing and location for the crime.

Police allege they intercepted a phone call between Melkie and David Will in which they discuss Munro, say they don't know who is talking, and denying everything to authorities.

He was committed to stand trial in the ACT Supreme Court.

Ian Will entered a plea of not guilty before the registrar in the ACT Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

His case was adjourned for six weeks, before an expected committal.
