The designer, known for his feminine creations, is looking forward to returning to the capital following his appearance at Floriade in 2012 but is encouraging ladies to embrace their inner biker chic for the autumn racing season.
''Autumn looks are dramatic this year. Black leather is going be big, but not in the short, rock'n'roll kind of way. I'd like to see soft tops with a leather pencil skirt and dramatic black hat or a peplum top paired with the winter floral colours like rich reds and lace,'' Brunsdon said. ''It's fun at the races to really pull something together and really make an effort, it's a fun opportunity to dress up.''
Brunsdon said he'd be paying attention to the accessories at the Black Opal Stakes Day and felt Chief Minister Katy Gallagher, who has a covetable shoe collection, would be in her element.
While the final preparations are being put into place for Black Opal Stakes Day, organisers are looking forward to welcoming Brunsdon and fellow Myer ambassador Laura Dundovic. ''To have him here on the birthday weekend of the Centenary really is a major coup for the fashion scene in Canberra,'' Thoroughbred Park marketing manager Briony Young said.
The 2013 Myer Face of Canberra Racing will be announced on Sunday during Preview Day at Thoroughbred Park.
