Police have found a shotgun hidden in a roof cavity while investigating a shot fired into a Griffith home on Wednesday.
They have also taken a 27-year-old man into custody. He will undergo "a forensic procedure" before being interviewed.
"[Criminal Investigations] detectives investigating the unlawful discharge of a firearm in Griffith earlier today executed a search warrant on the Deakin house around 2.30pm," police said in a statement.
"During the search they located the shotgun and ammunition. Police also seized three mature cannabis plants from the house."
Police were called to the Stuart Flats on Light Street about 2am, shortly after a gun was fired, sending a bullet through the window of a ground floor flat.
The round went through the window, through closed curtains, and into the wall on the opposite side of the unit.
Police said an occupant was inside the flat at the time of the shooting, but was not injured.
It was not clear if the shot was fired from someone standing outside the window, or from a moving car.
Fairfax Media spoke to several people living in the flats on Wednesday morning, however none of them heard any disturbances prior to police knocking on their doors.
Forensic investigators remain at the scene on Wednesday morning.
Witnesses are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via the website. Information can be provided anonymously.
