While services now arrived and departed more frequently, people were unhappy with the addition of extra suburbs to existing routes.

Bonner resident and public servant Emma Spicer was less than impressed with the route changes to the new suburb.

''I've lost my ability to go straight to Civic,'' she said.

Bonner residents will have to transfer at Gungahlin Marketplace to a bus which goes to Civic.

Bonner and Forde residents can travel on the new route 55 for free, for one week.

But Ms Spicer did compliment the frequency of the new services.

''The one I'm about to catch right now [to Gungahlin from Civic] has improved,'' she said.

Craig Dann, 19, was also less than pleased with his bus routes being extended to Kippax.

The 318 and 319 routes will now run between Kippax, Belconnen, Civic, Woden, and Tuggeranong.

''It used to go to Belconnen from Civic, now it also includes Kippax,'' he said.

''I don't want to have to go to Kippax as well.''

Route 51 was also extended to service Casey, but Tony Williams had no gripes about that.

The Casey local was more than happy to have a bus route which now runs through his suburb.

''It's pretty good,'' he said. ''I don't have to go so far to catch a bus. Also, it comes a lot more often, especially in the morning.''

Canberra College student Ruby Weber was also impressed with the frequency of her buses in the afternoon.

But the 17-year-old was disenchanted with her morning service.

''It's a little bit annoying,'' she said. ''I've got to get up earlier now to get to school.''
