The China Australia Trade and Investment Council is hosting a Shenzhen-Canberra "top talents policy promotion" on Saturday.

Council president Pan White said Shenzhen was a major city and special economic zone with a population of nearly 11 million, adjoining the Hong Kong border.

Ms White said the sister-city relationship with Canberra recognised the potential links in technology, innovation and renewable energy.

She said Saturday's forum would benefit people who wanted to develop commercial opportunities or obtain advice.

"It could be people looking for a manufacturer to make a prototype, or they want to find a distributor for their products, or they're looking for an investor," she said.

"Whoever wants to do business in China, Shenzhen would be a very good location to start with.

"We have the resources to do business matching and provide every support the business here might need."

Ms White said another forum would be held with the Canberra Business Chamber next month.

She said there was strong interest in China about developing renewable energy and Canberra's expertise in this field was recognised.

"As we all know the pollution is getting worse so the Chinese government is very focused on renewable energy," she said.

"Anything that can help to minimise the impact of pollution is something that's being looked at."

The seminar will be held at the Renewables Innovation Hub in Moore Street, Turner, on Saturday from 2-4pm.
