Canadian politicians have joined the push for the Australian Defence Force personnel to be sent to join the search for bushwalker Prabhdeep Srawn, who has been missing in the Kosciuszko National Park for more than a week.

Friends and family of the 25-year-old have been undertaking a social media campaign to push for forces to get involved in the search, targeting Australian politicians through Facebook and Twitter.
The push to find the Bond University law student, who was last seen when he parked his car at Charlotte Pass Village on May 13, has now attracted the support of Canadian politicians such as Member for Parliament for Toronto Centre Bob Rae.
Mr Rae wrote to the country’s Minister for Foreign Affairs John Baird on Thursday, urging his support in tasking Australian soldiers to the ongoing search efforts.
“I encourage Consular Services to continue working with the Australian officials to utilise all possible resources to help in the search for Prabhdeep, including working with emergency services and the Australian military,” he said.
“Prabhdeep has spent significant time as a reservist in both the Canadian Armed Forces and the Australian Army Reserve, and has received extensive survival training.”
Mr Rae urged Minister Baird to keep Mr Srawn’s family up to date with the search, which has involved rescue helicopters using state-of-the-art infrared scanners to search remote sections of the Kosciuszko National Park.
Brampton Mayor Susan Fennell has also contacted Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper regarding the ongoing search, calling for additional support.
“He is a Bramptonian,” she said.
The Westpac Life Saver and Snowy Hydro Southcare helicopters are continuing to carry out air searches on Friday, while volunteers carry out foot patrols after reports of voices earlier this week.
