Lights! Canberra! Action! A short film festival will be held at the Senate Rose Gardens outside Old Parliament House on Friday 7pm. Filmmakers have been given just ten days to write, shoot and produce seven-minute Canberra-centric films. Best to bring your own chairs, bean-bags or rugs to stretch out on the lawns with your family.
Symphony in the Park returns to Stage 88 on Sunday and is expected to once again attract a large crowd. This year the Canberra Symphony Orchestra will perform the musical score from the Disney classic Fantasia. The animation which will be screened simultaneously for viewing - with the sound turned down of course. The event is free and begins at 7pm.
Dîner en Blanc will return on Saturday night after proving a hit last year. The dinner features picnic goers dressed from head to toe in white and will be held in "a secret location somewhere picturesque in the capital." Attendees need to register online and will then be escorted to the location.
Canberra Day in the Park continues on Monday 10 March and features family friendly entertainment activities from 2pm to 7pm. Scooby Doo will make his way to the park to present three live "Ghostology" shows. There will also be face-painting, amusement rides and popular cover bands performing on Stage 88.
Canberra Balloon Spectacular will return for the 28th year and will run between March 8-16. 30 giant hot air balloons from across the world will take-off each morning from the lawns outside Old Parliament House. Look out for odd-shaped balloons such as a giant soccer ball, a pirate's parrot, and of course the Skywhale.
Enlighten festival will continue over the weekend and will showcase the Australian-first, Fiera A Cheval, which will see a herd of horses will gallop through John Dunmore Lang Place. Mr Percival of The Voice fame will perform at Enlighten's entertainment hub and events will also be held at the National Portrait Gallery, the National Library of Australia
