The family from Page was one of seven division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Lotto draw 3833 on April 14 with each entry winning $580,653.79 each.

The ticket was unregistered, but the syndicate leader, who wished to remain anonymous, said he had known the entry had won but didn't want to believe it was real until had was confirmed by NSW Lotteries.

“I knew last Sunday but I haven’t mentioned it to anyone,” he said.

“I don’t know how I’ve kept it a secret up until now. I just couldn’t believe it and the last thing I wanted was to tell them, but then find out I misread.

He said there were six people in the syndicate which had been "going on forever - more than a decade"

“We’ve been playing the same numbers for years and years – they’re all our birthdays. It’s never changed,” he said.

“It’s a perfect amount. They’ll be absolutely delighted. Everyone might treat themselves a little bit first, but then I think the rest will go on the mortgages.”

The win was the third major lottery prize to be been sold in the ACT this year.

In February, Canberra residents won 1st Prizes in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot.

The private syndicate’s winning was purchased at Nextra Belconnen, Shop 211, Westfield Shoppingtown, 18 Benjamin Way, Belconnen.

Nextra Belconnen owner Ma Jing Wang said he was thrilled his outlet had sold another division one winning entry.

“It’s the third division one winning entry we’ve sold during the past decade, but the first in a while so we’re very happy,” he said.

“It’s been a really busy week for the shop with lots of people coming in and asking whether the prize has been claimed.”

Across Australia, there were seven division one winning entries – four from Queensland, one from the ACT and two from Western Australia.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 345 this financial year, including 126 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
