1. THE CANBERRA TIMES FUN RUN

Squeeze in your final training runs - Sunday is race day. The Canberra Times Fun Run is on for its 42nd year, with a 5km, 10km and 14km course. The finish line is at Rond Terrace where there will be lots of entertainment for both competitors and their cheersquads - post-race yoga, live music, a jumping castle and kids' craft, plus you can request a song for your dad for Father's Day. 2. BENTSPOKE'S SPRING CANNERY PARTY

Forget about that time it snowed in Canberra only a few short days ago, according to the calendar, spring kicks off this weekend. Bentspoke is celebrating the start of the new season with a party at their Mitchell Cannery on Saturday from noon-10pm. The free, family-friendly event is a chance to see the brewery in action, plus there will be pigs on spits, live music, the Gecko Gang, fire twirlers, fire bins to warm up by, food from Pialligo Estate and BentSpoke beers available by the pint. It will also mark the launch of BentSpoke's new 'big and hoppy' canned beer. The cannery is at 79 Lysaght St, Mitchell.

3. SPRING DOG PARTY

Get your pooch ready for a day amongst the vines. Murrumbateman Winery is holding their spring dog party again on Saturday, hosted by their own winery dogs Mollie and Tannin. The festivities are to launch Mollie and Tannin's new wines - Mollie's Block Fumé Blanc and Tannin's Wild Pinot Grrr-is, but there will also be food for dogs and humans available for purchase, adventures to the dam and celebrity dog trivia. It's on 10am-5pm at Murrumbateman Winery, 131 McIntosh Circuit Murrumbateman, and entry is free.

4. FATHER'S DAY

Just a quick public service announcement in case it slipped your mind - Sunday is Father's Day. There are plenty of venues around town putting on special events for dads. A few of our picks? Limelight Cinemas in Tuggeranong is putting disaster prone dad Clark Griswold on the big screen with a screening of National Lampoon's Vacation at 2pm. Tickets at limelightcinemas.com.au. The Pedlar in Campbell is giving all dads who dine there for lunch or dinner a free schooner of beer. And QT Canberra is hosting the ultimate high tea for gents, with grilled wagyu sliders, truffle fries, and chocolate cigars filled with Bourbon semifreddo and candied bacon. 5. TO MARKET TO MARKET

Two big specialty markets on this weekend. The Canberra Kids Market is on Saturday at Exhibition Park from 9am-noon. Shop from a huge range of quality, pre-loved items for babies to 12 year olds. On Sunday, the 360 Fashion Market is on at the Fitters Workshop, Kingston, with vintage and designer goods, sustainable fashion plus food and coffee. It's on 10am-3pm and entry is free. 6. HAUNTED AND MYSTERIOUS BOOK SIGNING

Tim The Yowie Man's new book Haunted and Mysterious Australia is out this weekend, and the Yowie Man himself will be at Tidbinbilla Visitor's Centre this Saturday from 11am-1pm for book signings and selfies. The book explores 77 mysteries and haunted places around the country, and includes chapters on local places including Collector, Lake George, National Film and Sound Archive, Lake Burley Griffin, Captains Flat, and Duntroon House.

7. INTERNATIONAL RUGBY

The 11-week National Rugby Championship competition starts this weekend - you can watch the Canberra Vikings in their first game of the season against Queensland Country at Viking Park in Tuggeranong from 3pm on Saturday. Entry is $5, kids are free. See rugby.com.au/competitions/nrc.
