It will be a busy year for Dan Bourchier in 2017 - the former Sky News NT bureau chief has been appointed presenter of ABC Canberra's nightly television news bulletin as well as presenter of 666 ABC's breakfast radio program.

Bourchier will present the nightly news Monday to Thursday, with Craig Allen presenting Friday to Sunday.
The new team will go live on air on 16 January 2017, replacing long-standing local ABC news presenter Virginia Haussegger, who finished up in early October.
Details were scant about how the Bourchier would cover the long news day - the morning radio shift generally begins about 4am, and the nightly news ends at 7.30pm.
An ABC Canberra spokeswoman wouldn't be drawn how Bourchier would be able to dedicate the same focus to both jobs, which used to be separate and said the 7pm news bulletin would not be pre-recorded.
In a statement, the ABC said the logistics of Bourchier's role would be finalised in 2017.
"Dan Bourchier has been hired based on the depth and breadth of his experience, not as a cost saving measure," the spokeswoman said.
The ABC has also announced Alex Sloan's replacement in Laura Tchilinguirian, a long-term presenter with a wealth of experience in both AM and FM radio in Canberra.
Local listeners have become familiar with Laura over the past month while she has been presenting the 666 breakfast show, following Philip Clark's move to Nightlife.
Tchilinguirian will begin presenting the Afternoons show from 16 January 2017, with Susan McDonald joining the ACT newsroom as morning radio news presenter.
McDonald, a long-time Canberra resident, joins the ACT newsroom from the ABC's Parliament House Bureau.
Bourchier said he was excited to be taking on the dual role for the ABC.
"These are two incredible opportunities and I appreciate the chance to join the experienced ABC Canberra team," he said.
"I can't wait to explore the stories which are affecting 666 ABC Canberra listeners as they are starting the day, and talk through the matters that are most important to them.
"I'm also looking forward to joining Canberrans at the other end of the day - presenting the news of the day in the ACT, around the nation, and across the globe."
Dan Bourchier grew up in the outback Northern Territory mining town of Tennant Creek and began reporting for the local newspaper when he was 14, going on to work for the NT News. His younger years in Tennant Creek, together with his coastal Victorian Aboriginal heritage, have instilled in him a deep interest in the culture, history and social justice issues of Australia's First Nation people.
From 2010 he was with National Indigenous Television (NITV) in Sydney and Canberra before moving to Darwin in 2012 to join Sky News as its NT bureau chief. In that role he covered stories including the fourth inquest into the death of Azaria Chamberlain, US President Barack Obama's visit to the Top End and the subsequent deployment of US Marines to the Territory.
Bourchier was the first to announce the rolling of NT Chief Minister Terry Mills, breaking the news on air while the Cabinet was still in discussion. Most recently he was Political Reporter and National Indigenous Affairs Correspondent for Sky News based in Canberra.
