Anita and Carlo Krikowa, owners of furniture and homewares company boy and girl co, who have a store at The Hamlet in Braddon. They lives with their dog Musket and seven chickens.
"Four of them are called Rosie, one of them is Jerry – you know the Seinfeld episode where Kramer has a chicken? It's named after that," says Anita.
"And the two black ones are Malcolm and Martin – for perhaps obvious reasons," says Carlo.
With their talents for building unique and interesting pieces, the duo kept the house true to its previous form, updating it with their own furniture and homewares creations.
"It was my friend's house beforehand and they moved up to Queensland so we moved in. Everything is pretty much the same just decorated differently," says Carlo.
"We also put in the vegie garden out the back and a fence so Musket and the chickens don't get in."
"Mine would be the bedroom because at night time we don't have any technology in there. It smells amazing because of the bedhead – it's hardwood and it's got a natural oil and lavender cream on it," says Anita.
"It's just a peaceful area at the end of the day to be able to just strip everything back, go to bed and just read and have a cup of tea."
Carlo prefers the lounge at the other end of the house. "I love books so I like sitting in that room because I feel like the words are being absorbed through osmosis or something. And it's nice in the afternoon the sun comes through the door – it's just warm and peaceful."
The house's location in Evatt was a big selling point for the couple.
"It has a community kind of feel like an olden-day one where the kids all still play out on the street. When you drive along they wave and get out of the way of the car. And our neighbours come by all the time and ask for eggs. It's really cool actually," says Carlo.
"There are so many big beautiful trees and everyone's house isn't all the way to the front lawn – you've got space. And there's some really good running tracks too – running up Mount Rogers is beautiful," says Anita.
