Canberra will be filled with film crews later this year, as well as some familiar faces, as production is set to begin on the long-awaited film of Joe Cinque's Consolation, the dramatisation of a Canberra murder that gripped the city in the 1990s. The screenplay, by award-winning filmmaker Sotiris Dounoukos, has been adapted from the best-selling book by Helen Garner.

Dounoukos, who will direct the film, co-wrote the screenplay with Matt Rubenstein, and the film has financial support from Screen Australia and the ACT Government.
Production is set to begin mid-year, and will be entirely shot in Canberra.
Meanwhile, filming is also set to begin on the second season of The Code, the edgy ABC thriller that won several awards and in which the capital was practically a main character. Season two is set to screen in 2016 and the ACT government has announced it will get public funding.
