Over the past 12 months Canberra-based Crux Media has evolved from a one-man operation to an award-winning production company responsible for some of the hottest music videos in Australia.

Jimmy Ennett, the passionate filmmaker and creative mind behind Crux, says it's been a bit of a whirlwind.
"I don't have a particularly entrepreneurial business kind of mind, I just think in terms of pretty pictures and making people laugh or cry," he says.
"I've done more videos in the last 12 months than I had in my entire life before that, which is great. It's always been a goal of mine every year to make more videos and make better ones."
Crux is still very much a boutique company, which sees Ennett work with producers Sam Tremayne and Sophie Brown on projects for a range of clients, including short films and corporate videos, and its recent work on local music videos has seen it gain national media attention.
"I really lucked out in 2013 by getting in contact with this band that was on Triple J Unearthed and it turned out to be SAFIA," Ennett explains.
"I made their first music video which was also my first music video. Since then I've done the video for their single Paranoia, Ghosts and Other Sounds, which actually won the Australian Independent Music Video Award. I made that with a really talented animator, Jaeger John Vallejera."
The 2014 video for SAFIA's You Are the One was another hit for Crux, filmed on a Deakin street and depicting the apocalyptic story of a young couple searching for each other as a series of explosions destroy the city skyline behind them.
Ennett and his team film all over Australia, but he says that Canberra, while it's not typically seen as 'trendy' by the alternative Australian music scene, is one of his favourite places to shoot.
"Canberra has so much to offer, both location-wise and I love the crews here," Ennett says.
"I love Canberra, I got my start doing Lights! Canberra! Action! All the filmmakers in town that are doing different stuff, we all know each other, we all help each other out, we lend each other gear and advice and help.
"I think that in a bigger city like Melbourne or Sydney I'd be swallowed in the crowd and it would be a lot harder to get the kind of clients that we're getting as a very young business."
Crux's latest video for Melbourne artist Joy was filmed using a single shot in a house in Curtin, set up to look like a hoarder's home.
