The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride was started in 2012 by a Sydney man, but now brings together riders from more than 500 cities in support of men's health.
Think monocles, jaunty trimmed moustaches, silk vests, crisp shirts, tailored suits and vintage-styled bikes, the organisers say.
It was Craig Clancy's first time riding in the event on Sunday. The 49-year-old, who rides a Moto Guzzi V7, says it was "incredible".
"I generally ride alone and this was an opportunity to meet other riders with like minds and like bikes," he said.
"It's still a young event, but as each year goes on the profile's going to get higher ... from an Australian thing, like Movember, it's quickly become a worldwide event."
The Canberra ride started at Joe's Motorcycles in Fyshwick, and wound its way up Black Mountain, past the Arboretum, Government House and finally to the Kingston Hotel.
At Government House they met Governor General Sir Peter Cosgrove, who they gifted with a sew-on patch of the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride logo – a moustached man with a pipe named Sir Remington Silversteed.
Mr Clancy, who raised $450, said it was incredible to see a variety of riders who had only bikes in common get together for the cause.
The Canberra ride's organiser, ACTION bus driver Simon Whittaker, has been involved since the first distinguished ride in 2012.
He rode a 1976 Honda CJ360 brat-style of bike, and belongs to the Canberra Cafe Racers club, who did the marshalling on Sunday.
He said what made the event special was the niche-style of motorbikes involved; the ride discouraged sports bikes and encouraged vintage bikes or modern classics.
"It's a bit of a spectacle," Mr Whittaker said, adding that the Canberra ride was getting bigger and bigger every year.
He has seen the event grow from 25 of his mates to the 200 Canberra riders who raised more than $30,000 this year.
Mr Whittaker is regularly recognised as one of the top two fundraisers for the event worldwide, last year raising more than $11,000 for the cause.
Worldwide, the event has raised $US3 million this year.
The event, established in 2012 by Sydney man Mark Hawwa, has raised more than $5 million in three years of fundraising.
