We wouldn't be surprised if Birdsnest founder and owner Jane Cay is inundated with CVs this week - it turns out her Cooma-based business is in the top five places to work in the entire country.

The online fashion retailer this week took home fourth place in the 2017 BRW Great Places to Work, over 100 employees category. It's the second time the family-owned business has appeared in the list, making its debut in 2015 in eighth place in the under 100 employee category.
"Contrary to popular belief, Birdsnest has proven that you can absolutely have an exciting and fulfilling career in the retail industry, and that it can be found in a rural setting," Ms Cay said.
"When I started Birdsnest, I wanted to create the opportunity for our team to work in the fast lane and live in the slow lane.
"I realised very early on in our journey that being the champion of a great workplace culture was my most important job - I wanted people to jump out of bed wanting to come to work each day."
Ms Cay's innovative approach to workplace culture includes working with her entire team to create a set of shared cultural values called BIRDSONG: Believe, Inspire, Receptive, Dance Together, Surprise Her, One Flock, Nurture and Gratitude.
"These values underpin everything from recruitment practices to training and development, open communication, flexible workplace arrangements and the way the team celebrates," Ms Cay said.
"This month is Nurture month which is all about looking after your own physical and mental health so you can be the best version of yourself in life and work.
"Employees will be treated to 15-minute massages, healthy food and snacks each day, and the whole team will dress up in pyjamas for R U OK DAY."
Birdsnest employs more than 140 Cooma locals and posts parcels of locally-designed fashion to women all over the country.
