If you've walked past, you've probably already eyed off their eye-catching range of macarons and cakes – all made in their Sydney bakery and sent to Canberra three times a week.

They also have an all-day brunch-style menu with a range of both sweet and savoury dishes (the croissant benedict is a must-try), plus scones baked in store. For lunch, they have three daily salads, available eat-in or takeaway for $12.

For a bit of everything, their high tea is $34.95 per person, no booking required, combining sandwiches, scones and a rotating selection of sweets from the cabinet.

The business started in Brisbane in 2014 when owner Josh Kim saw a gap in the market for somewhere to go out with friends late at night if you didn't want to go for a drink. He joined forces with family friend and co-owner Chris Sheldrick to open Passiontree, originally a patisserie which turned into a dessert cafe. Since then they have opened further patisseries across Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Sydney, and now Canberra.

Sheldrick and Kim have temporarily relocated to Canberra to get the new store up and running, and have been tapping into local suppliers – they currently use The Museli Bar and Three Mills Bakery.

And Sheldrick said this is just the start of Passiontree Velvet in Canberra – they also have plans for a dessert cafe, with its own bakery.
