The special attraction will come to Cohen Street in Belconnen as part of the City Slider tour and organisers say it will take up the equivalent of three city blocks.

The slide is 6 metres wide, featuring two lanes and 35mm of foam underneath for a comfortable landing.

Families can make a day of it while youngsters splash in the free 25 metre mini slide.

Slidegoers must be at least 110cm tall to ride the main waterslide but those between 110cm and 130cm must also be accompanied by a ticketed adult.

"The City Slider is set to bring the centre of your city to life as we transform an inner city street into an alcohol free, family friendly carnival," the event's website reads.

"It'll be a street party with quality, healthy fun and a street party that will run for 12 hours!"

Six sessions will run between 9am and 8.30pm and tickets are expected to sell out.

Tickets can be purchased at thecityslider.com.au from Thursday. Early birds are $29 for one-and-a-half hour session, and general tickets are $35.
