After honing her craft from the age of 16 at Canberra's Dance Central, Carson's career has taken her to Sydney and then New Zealand, which is where she was when she auditioned to be part of Janet Jackson's world tour.

She was one the few successful out of the hundreds that auditioned and she's now part of the singer's Unbreakable World Tour, which has so far visited Canada, the USA and Japan.

"It's amazing, it's an absolute dream job to be honest," Carson said.

"Janet's amazing – she's such a great boss. You can just tell she really appreciates the people that work for her and she looks after us really well."

Dance Central was first launched by Julie Scheer in 2005, and it's celebrating its 10th birthday this weekend.

Carson has come back to town specifically for the milestone and will be teaching two classes on Saturday November 28 for anyone interest in dancing – or looking to learn tips from the pro.

"They're open classes so anyone's welcome to come along and have a jam. But I think it's important for me to be teaching at that studio – it's a big deal for me to go back home and share what I'm doing," she said.

The Janet Jackson tour is set to resume in January with another leg of shows in the USA, followed by Europe. Carson said there's always the chance some Australia tour dates could be added as well, giving her the chance to dance in front of a home crowd.

The dance workshops are at Dance Central, Phillip on Saturday November 28 from noon-3pm.
