Mystery woman "Laura" has been showered with praise on social media after paying a parking fine for the Canberra mother, who was in hospital with her nine-week-old son when slapped with the ticket.
The anonymous mum, who shared her story via online network Canberra Mums, had been in hospital a few days with her baby before she discovered the fine.
However, when she returned to her car there was a pink post-it note attached to the ticket informing her it had already been paid.
"I saw your car had a parking ticket on it," the note read.
"I'm sure whatever you are going through at hospital is tough enough so I have paid for you. Hope things get better."
The mother, who was discharged from hospital on Monday and posted a photo of the note to Facebook, said she appreciated the support.
"After those days in hospital, a parking ticket was one more thing that I didn't need," she wrote.
"Well to my surprise, when I opened the envelope there was a note from a lovely lady named Laura.
"I hope that Laura sees this and knows how much I appreciate her support. Thank you so much."
The Facebook post has garnered more than 70,000 likes and shared more than 8000 times, with more than 2000 people responding with comments of praise by early Tuesday morning.
Many have also shared their own frustrations of being booked at hospital car parks as patients, carers and during emergencies, as well as the hassle of disputing the fines.
