The 22-year-old is currently starring in the stage version of the 1992 hit movie The Bodyguard and the musical's Sydney season has just been extended by a further three weeks, to July 2.

Amosa moved to Sydney from the family's Canberra home in late March when she scored a dream role understudying two lead characters in The Bodyguard. They include the role of Rachel Marron, made famous by Whitney Houston in the movie and played for the stage by Australian Idol alumni Paulini Curuenavuli.

She also understudies the role of Marron's sister Nicki, played for the stage by The Voice star Prinnie Stevens.

While Amosa has yet to perform in either lead roles ("I'm on permanent standby") she has starred in the chorus of the show more than 20 times since it opened, including a performance where her family travelled up the Hume Highway to sit in the audience of Sydney's Lyric Theatre.

But Amosa's not the only talented Canberran to have scored a role in The Bodyguard.

Damien Bermingham - star of many a Canberra Philharmonic and Canberra Repertory show - is playing Tony, the bodyguard of starlet Rachel Marron before Secret Service agent Frank Farmer is introduced.

Amosa and Bermingham will have a few days at home with their families when the show closes in Sydney, before heading to Queensland for the Brisbane season of The Bodyguard.
