The eyes of thousands of children lit up again on Saturday as Canberra's annual tribute to the world's favourite creative building block delivered new surprises.

But a computer ticketing glitch has led to complaints by some who were unable to attend a different session time after an over subscription for the popular Brick Expo.
There was a noticeable increase in conveyor belt-style creations mesmerising children this year as balls of various sizes travelled a circuit, and an impressive ice castle complete with a Lego Elsa from Disney's Frozen was hard to miss.
The happy and curious smiles appeared to extend to most parents, many of whom had agreed to a serious road trip to attend the event at the Hellenic Club in Woden.
Teresa Broomham, from Wollongong, said she had jumped at the chance to visit after six-year-old son Michael had spotted an ad for the event.
"He saw the TV commercial during morning cartoons and was like, 'Mum, can we go?' and I thought, why not?" she said.
In addition to the diverse Lego creations, she said he had liked the various human storm troopers spotted throughout the building.
Some with a ticket at home were less happy, after organisers discovered on Saturday morning several thousand more tickets had been sold than records had shown.
Those in oversubscribed sessions were being contacted by email on Saturday and offered different times or a refund, but not all could change their plans and expressed their disappointment on the charity event's Facebook page.
"As we live an hour away neither of the other times offered are really suitable for a young child," one mother said.
"Who would like to tell my 5 year old that sorry we aren't going now."
Organisers said two Sunday sessions were the worst impacted. Brick Expo organising committee chairman David Boddy said at least 10,000 people were booked in for the weekend, at least 3,000 more than expected early on Saturday morning.
On the floor the kids did not seem to mind, distracted by the classic Star Wars creations, movie and TV scene replicas and train tracks.
Michelle Favier from Gungahlin said her three children, who had been desperate to see the Star Wars pieces, loved playing with the timeless blocks.
"Any age can do it, and it's so nice to see they want to keep the things they built on the box, but also use their own imagination to make whatever they want," she said.
All tickets for the two-day event have been sold. The event raised $70,000 for Paediatrics at the Canberra Hospital last year, attracting 13,500 people.
