Ned and Josh take over breakfast radio slot at Hit 104.7 in Canberra

Hit 104.7 has announced its new breakfast team: Ned and Josh will wake up Canberrans who tune into the FM station from the start of December.

The pair, currently in Western Australia at Bunbury-based Hit Southwest, will take over from Ryan and Tanya, who left the show after less than two years at the helm.

Ned Breward, 22, originally from Tasmania, and Josh Torney, 26, from South Australia, both in their 20s, are known for their playful approach to the job, exemplified by a 500km tandem bike ride from Northam to Kalgoorlie last year.

Despite their youthful appearances, Ned and Josh are radio troubadours. Between them they have broadcasted radio shows in NSW, South Australia, Tasmania, Queensland and Western Australia.

Torney said the pair would be "100 per cent newbies" in Canberra, but they were excited to make it their new home.

"Ned's never been to Canberra and I've only been a couple of times, but we're really stoked about discovering the place and hoping the people will give us a chance," he said.

Regional Western Australia content director for Hit WA FM Amy Collett said the pair was one of the most successful breakfast teams the station had had. "They're so talented and I'm really proud to see them getting promoted to the Canberra job," she said.

Outgoing breakfast host Ryan Jon has headed back home to Perth to take up a position at Mix 92.9. Tanya Hennessy is moving from Canberra. In the past two years, she has seen her star rise, becoming a YouTube star with her everyday makeup tutorials and "Things People Say To....." series.

Her online success has translated into financial deals with companies that sponsor her content and co-hosting The Bachelor Unpacked and The Bachelorette Unpacked.

As of the last local radio ratings, Hit 104.7 was the third most listened to breakfast show in Canberra, trailing ABC Radio Canberra and Mix 106.3.

Hit 104.7 dominates the younger market, with 37.7 per cent of the 18-39 year old audience tuning in to the network.

The station's content director, Rod Cuddihy, said he was "pumped to secure the most consistently high performing team in regional Australia".

"Ned and Josh's sharp wits and down-to-earth personalities have engaged with West Australians in record numbers across all their markets."

Ned and Josh will present their first Hit 104.7 show on December 4 at 6am.
