666 ABC Canberra is losing its sixes as part of a new, nationally-consistent brand for the broadcaster. The local station will now simply be known as 'ABC Radio Canberra'.
But we're not the only ones - there'll be no more 702 Sydney or 774 Melbourne.
ABC Radio's capital city stations will be renamed in line with a staged introduction of new localised ABC Radio websites.
A former long-term 666 ABC staff member, who wished to remain unnamed, said the name change was the "end of an era" for Canberra.
"It's always been like a trademark for us - and obviously because it has other connotations - it was just an icon of the radio landscape," she said.
"It's sad to hear."
The refresh will roll out from Monday 9 January 2017. The ABC Regional Division radio network will also follow with an updated brand in 2017.
