I am always listening to new stuff, currently U2, Snow Patrol, Neil Diamond, The Vines, Faker and The Living End. It changes when heading out for different shows.
Describe your sound.
The Living End meets HillSong. Really, our sound is constantly changing. Now, with our own recording studio Band Express, we are looking to create more complex mixes with additional layering and effects. If you needed to put us in a genre I would say alternative rock.
Tell us something about where you grew up and how it influenced your sound?
I grew up in Canberra which didn't really influence our sound. I was always more about Aussie bands in those days - The Saints really blew my mind, then Midnight Oil, The Vines, Butterfly Effect. I loved just listening to real music played by real musicians, none of this electronic dance music which doesn't seem to have any heart and soul.
What's your earliest musical memory?
Playing a guitar at my grandparents farm about the age of seven after hearing a song by The Rolling Stones - they became a major influence.
How do you prepare for a gig?
We practise twice a week, run through everything, re-work the songs for the type of show we are doing, get on board with all the promotion to try and hype the show and then, on stage, the performance takes on a personality of its own. We never really know what's going to happen, one performance to the next.
What's your greatest memory from on the road?
We loved playing at The Black Stump Festival, but also the AIS Arena at the Canberra Roller Derby grand final. We have lots of good memories of Sydney and surrounding regions.
Who are your musical heroes?
Keith Richards from The Rolling Stones, Mark Bolan from T. Rex and Craig Nicholls from The Vines.
Who would you most like to tour with?
WolfMother or The Living End.
Where can we catch your next gig?
We are guest performing at the Lift-Off 2015 Final held at the Woden CIT Music Centre on Ainsworth Street on November 27. It will also be a dual-single launch for us of our latest songs Stop.Listen&Love as well as Heart Of Fire. There will be a showcase of young performers competing for prizes. It will be a great night and entry is free. We'll be on about 9pm.
